Including in the Footsteps of St Paul, The seven Churches and Cappadocia
Day 1 - Istanbul - Adana:
Arrival at Istanbul. Transfer to the national airport and flight to Adana. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 - Adana - Antakya - Seulecia Pieria - Adana:
After breakfast, drive to Antakya, the ancient Antioch where Christians were first named and where St. Paul began his missionary journeys. Visit the Cave of St. Peter and the Museum of Mosaics. Lunch. Continue to Seleucia Pieria, the actual Samandag, where
St. Paul and St. Barnabas set sail for Cyprus in their first missionary
journey. Then drive to Adana. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 - Adana - Tarsus - Cappadocia:
After breakfast, drive to Tarsus, the native town of St. Paul, see St. Paul and Cleopatra archs. Continue to Cappadocia. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - Cappadocia:
Full day excursion with lunch to the Goreme Valley with its Troglodyte Churches. Visit to the Underground City of
Derinkuyu, the rock cones, Zelve and Avanos with their
red-coned monastic complex and Kaymakli and its underground cities and churches. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - Cappadocia - Derbe - Lystra - Konya:
After breakfast drive to Konya, visit en route, Derbe where St. Paul and
St. Barnabas spoke and won many converts. Continue to Lystra, visited several times by St. Paul and then arrive to Konya. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6 - Konya - Antioch of Pisidia (Yalvac) - Antalya:
Morning sightseeing of Konya the ancient Iconium where St. Paul and
St. Barnabas used the Synagogue as their forum. We will visit the Mosque, the Museum of the Whirling Dervishes which house the Mauseoleum of Mevlana. After lunch drive to Antioch of Pisidia where St. Paul preached his first recorded sermon and was expelled from the city. Visit the ruins of the two Basilicas. Drive to Antalya (Attalia) for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Antalya - Perge (Perga) - Aspendos - Antalya:
Drive to Perge where St. Paul preached, visiting the Theatre and the Stadium. Continue to Aspendos with its famous Theatre. Lunch , return to Antalya for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 - Antalya - Myra - Antalya:
Optional tour to Myra visited by St. Paul, St. Luke and St. Aristarchus and, particulary known for St. Nicholas who was the bishop of this Mediterranean city during the 4th century, many rock tombs overlook the splendid Theatre, after lunch return to Antalya for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 - Antalya - Colossae - Laodicea - Pamukkale (Hierapolis):
In the morning drive to Colossae (Famous is St. Paul's letter to the Colossians) to visit the Byzantine wall and some remaining ruins. After lunch continue to Laodicea one of The Seven Churches, visit the Odeon, the Theatre and Gymnasium, continue to Pamukkale (Hierapolis) for dinner and overnight.
Day 10 - Hierapolis - Philadelphia - Thyatira - Sardis - Kusadasi:
After breakfast, visit Hierapolis with its Necropolis, Baths, Theatre and Philips Martyrium. Continue to Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, belonging also to the Seven Churches of Revelation founded during the reign of Attalus II, continue to Thyatira, another one of the Seven Churches, where the members were commended for their steadfastness against libertarianism. After lunch continue to Sardis capital of ancient Lydia, visit the temple of Cybele and Diana (which became a Church), the Synagogue and the Gymnasium. The position of Sardis as one of the Seven Churches identify it's varied religious significance. Drive to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight.
Day 11 - Kusadasi - Ephesus - Miletus - Kusadasi:
After breakfast visit the ruins of Ephesus one of the Seven Churches, the theatre where
St. Paul preached to the Ephesians, the Library, the Odeon, the Double Church where the Third Ecumenical Council was held in 431 and the Marble Road. Visit St. John's Basilica and the House of Virgin Mary. After lunch will continue of Miletus, one of the principal Ionian cities and home of Thales which was twice visited by St. Paul, visit the very well preserved Theatre the Byzantine Fortress, the Delphinion, the Nymphanion, the Bouleterium and the Faustina Baths. Return to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight.
Day 12 - Kusadasi - Izmir - Pergamon - Assos:
After breakfast, drive to Izmir, a short city tour of Izmir the ancient Smyrna and one of the oldest continued inhabited church of the revelation visiting mount Pagus where Polycarp was martyred. Then we continue to Pergamon to visit the Asklepion and the Acropolis, the Theatre, the Temple of Athena and the Altar of Zeus. John denounced it as throne of Satan in his reference to Pergamon church members. After lunch, we will visit the Asklepion, the medical center of the ancient world. Drive to Assos for dinner and overnight.
Day 13 - Assos - Troas - Troy - Bursa:
After breakfast, we visit the legendary Troy. Lunch, we continue to Alexandria Troas, visited at least twice by St. Paul, then to Assos. St. Paul, in his third journey, traveled by land from Alexandria Troas to Assos, we will visit the Theatre, the Temple of Athena and the Agora. Drive to Bursa for dinner and overnight.
Day 14 - Bursa - Nicea - Istanbul:
After breakfast, we will visit Bursa including the Grand Mosque, the Green Mausoleum and the old silk market in the covered bazaar. After lunch, drive to Nicea. The importance of Nicea in Christian history is in the two church meetings that were held here; the first Ecumenical Council of 325 and the seventh Ecumenical Council of 787. Visits includes the Church of St. Sophia now Museum. Drive to Istanbul for dinner and overnight.
Day 15 - Istanbul:
A full day visiting the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, St. Sophia, the Topkapi Palace and the Cistern. After lunch we visit the Kariye (St. Saviour in Chora) and the Grand Bazaar. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 16 - Istanbul:
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and departure.
